The Changing Face of Rottnest (Tour by Bicycle)
- Duración: 2 Horas (aproximadamente)
- Ubicación: Rottnest Island, WA
- Código de producto: CF00400_CFR
Discover the changes in Rottnest vegetation over 10,000 years when climate change completely modified the landscape, then how human intervention destroyed most of the existing vegetation in less than 100 years. Learn how we are impacted by these changes today and what is being done to rectify the situation.
Students will learn about the full vegetation regeneration processes - from seed collection to treatment, storage, and propagation. As each seedling matures and is added to the awe-inspiring island landscape, the work of the nursery can be spotted everywhere.
There’s Samphire around the lakes, Spinifex in the dunes at Longreach Bay, Tea Tree along the bike path between The Basin and Longreach Bay, and Saltbush (rhagodia baccata) along Parker Point road.
Awaken the senses of even your most indoorsy of adventurers, with time spent deep in nature. This tour may even inspire the eco-innovators of a new generation.
Meeting Location: RVGA Information Booth
End Location: The tour concludes at the Island's plant nursery where students examine plant propagation and where they can complete an evaluation exercise.
Note: This tour is conducted using bicycles and on foot, covering several kilometres. Bicycle hire not included. A walking tour is available upon request, but it will not include a visit to the nursey.
